When looking for Tarot Cards you will be attracted to a certain set because they suit you, it is as simple as that. First determine the type of set you would like.

Tarot Cards: require at least a basic understanding of the individual cards so do need to have a degree of learning to read them properly and gain the full advantage. If you have a high degree of intuitive ability then a basic understanding of the cards is all you need but if you have minimal intuitive ability you can still read Tarot cards well by having a deep understanding of the intricate meanings woven into the set you buy.

Oracle Cards: Don't require any learning of the individual cards, they usually have a description, and a picture full of triggers associated with that card meaning. If you are intuitive you can get a lot from reading the picture alone without necessarily responding to the card descriptor, some Tarot cards are more suited to picture reading than actual Tarot readings as well.

Self Development Cards: These can be used as oracles sometimes but their primary function is to point you towards actions, behaviours, or a change in your personal belief systems to promote life enhancing changes. They are usually very good for helping you understand how you have created your current reality and what you need to do to promote necessary changes or bring about desired results.

ACES

Aces = energy without directive force. They have no purpose yet, but are filled with potential. They are the active energy of the suit ready to be used. They can also indicate direction or season, though which stands for which is often debated. Here are the "usual" directions and seasons. If, however, they don't feel right to you, the reader, use whatever works best.

Ace of Wands

A new spark of energy for a new passion. This usually indicates that the querent has just discovered a potential direction in life. They feel their energy go up, they feel the heat, and they want more of it. They martial there resourses and begin the journey that is a natural outcrop of the ideas of the sword.

Ace of Cups

A new level of feeling. This usually indicates that the querent is feeling a new swelling of emotion or beginning to have some vivid dreams. There may be a new feeling for a partner, have felt a tug at their heart, or have a desire to do something new. Whichever way there is a need to explore something from the hearts desires.

Ace of Swords

Mental challenges as a new idea can bring a conflict with it. This usually indicates that the person's mind is feeling sharper, clearer. They want to talk, want to discuss or write to clarify the thoughts that are inside, the origin of any manifestation comes in the form of a thought, these thoughts are often tested on those around you who may not be willing to allow you to make changes, but when this ace appears a change of mind has already occurred.

Ace of Pentacles

Something new in the doing. Here is a physical need to be grounded, to do solid work, make, create and touch.  Maybe take up a new hobby or career path, the need to be real. This is a driving feeling that one has to do something, anything, as long as it is constructive.

These are the aces, the raw or initial passion, feelings, thoughts and needs that can be directed into something more. They represent hope, a possibility, or can be an action required. While undirected they are often accompanied by restlessness, and a need to test the waters.

TWOS

Twos indicate duality but, more importantly, they indicate instinctual knowledge. Aces are undirected energy; the twos are, in a sense, the knowledge of what the direction for that energy should take. This means the querent has a good idea of a needed action and needs to balance the ideal with reality in some way to be able to go forward.

Two of Wands

Wands are action, and passion used in unison the energy expended here will return good results. While the two energies are un-unified the querent will remain unfulfilled in some way. To choose to act without passion as the cause for action is to choose for a reason that may leave you without the desired result, as to have a desire without action can only leave you dissatisfied and wanting.

This is not so much about choice between the two, but more of a balance in the use of action and desire, it can indicate a split between the two which will lead to a manifestation that leaves the querent unsatisfied. This card indicates choosing whether your actions and passions are to work together, if your instincts are good, the choice will be a right one. In essence the two of wands says you need to act to meet your desires while at the same time this card indicates you know this, in the action that is taken though there can be devastation, pain just as easily as there can be joy.

Two of Cups

This card is a coming together or reuniting or two people. It is recognition of love, of a friend or soul mate. You will be drawn to another and/or them to you, sometimes from a great distance, to establish this relationship. It represents the forming of a partnership with another on any level, be aware of the question you asked, if it was not about love then be aware of the other possible roles a partnership may play in your life. It can represent a return to something you love a hobby or career, or the creation of a business partnership.

This card can indicate a resolving of an argument, or reunion after separation, the draw will be love or affection which will override mental considerations.

Two of Swords

Crossed swords suggest a clash of ideas, words or personalities.  This card indicates an unwillingness to deal with problems, and that the problems are not necessarily the querants own but some action may be required. It could be that it is time for the querant to acknowledge that choice is a part of life and you cannot sit on the fence and that if you do you are equally as responsible as the person who makes a choice, for to make no choice is a choice still and influences outcomes.

It can also mean it is time for the querant to make a choice and take an active role in his, or her, own destiny that it is time to acknowledge ones own role in creating the dilemma that now must be faced. This is not a choice in taking sides in a conflict but to admit that to create in life one must accept responsibility for their part in creating the present.

Two of Pentacles

This card indicates juggling between different aspects of ones life, work, kids, partners, hobbies and finances, the querant may be juggling only two areas but in being stretched one can become tired. However the querants choices are clear for balance to be reached one must prioritize and choose the best way to do this.

This gives promise of achieving this balance, look to the surrounding cards to see how. Be aware that it can also indicate where two people, ideas or situations are being played off one against the other, balance is found by good choices not deception.

THREES

So at first we had one, indivisible; then it splits into two, mirror images, opposites: two opposing passions, twin emotions, two ideas, two jobs or finances. The next move, of course, is for the two to create a third. Male and female create a child; two corners get a third to form a triangle.

Ruling over the threes is the Empress, of course, whose card is all about creation. The child in the womb, the seed in the ground. So, with the twos, a choice has been made about how to use this passion, emotion, brainpower, craft. Now we get the first results of that decision, the initial manifestation, or the first real chapter. It has become real.

Three of Wands

This is the card of "waiting for the ships to come in". The person has invested their passion in something and now something is coming back. It is a card of progress, of the first hint that the dream can be made real. The tests are coming back, and it looks to be positive. Querent might rightly be feeling a little proud, even powerful. The three though is a first chapter, and though action has found a result there is more to be done after that initial sense of achievement.

Three of Cups

The creation here, springing from the relationship in the two of cups, is happiness, togetherness. Two cups pour into a third and it overflows with love and joy, enough for all. This is a card of parties, weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, birthdays. Any time that families or loved ones get together or reunite in celebration of something new.

The simplest description of this card is celebration. If two meet there is a point of recognition and great joy for their feelings have found expression.

Three of Swords

Ah, the dreaded three of swords. Three swords pierce a heart. You were warned that the peace established in the two of swords couldn't last. What sharp words or cutting ideas have created here, not surprisingly, is pain and heartbreak. This card often relates to love-triangles; but remember this is an air sign, so what the Querent believes to be true was likely due to something they heard wrongly or were falsely told, a wrong idea they got into their heads. It does not lessen the fact that hurtful words are going to be exchanged.

There is, however, an up side to this card, however bleak. Prior to now, the words and thoughts - possibly poisonous words and thoughts - have been bottled up. They now come out into the open, the cutting truth. I don't like you, or, I didn't say that, or, I'm sorry that is not what I want.  So, well, now the Querent knows; no more waiting, obsessing, wondering, worrying. Either blood or poison can drip out, and the Querent can get on with their life. They now know how things stand and can act on that, instead of on false beliefs, gossip and misconceptions.

Three of Pentacles

This is the craftsman's card and it indicates creating something that brings in rewards. The Querent has created more work for himself. So promising is what the Querent has done with so little, that money, admiration, and more work is coming their way, enough to get them out of the juggling they were doing in the two of pentacles. Health wise, this card can also indicate positive results from a new exercise program or therapy.

It is the card of early rewards for effort and commitment to a project or job, in itself this success does create more work, the potential though is what was sought in the first place, success is not the end but where you create a business initial success provides you with more business and financial return. It is the card of what you put out, will come back to you.

FOURS

Fours are ruled by the Emperor. Like both the Emperor and his throne they signify a kind of stability, a holding pattern if you will. For a moment, everything is still, solid, rooted, established. This can be positive, a solid foundation, or negative, something that refuses to budge or change.  The fours herald a time of potential dissatisfaction with the creation or with ones life, feeling on the one hand safe, but wanting or needing more. It is the card of sensing and feeling that things are not what they could be.

Four of Wands

The ships have come in, and the Querent can sit back and enjoy them for a moment. This is the card of achievement one has travelled and faced challenges to get here, it is a time for reflection, sometimes this can be an impatient time as one cannot help but ask, what now.

The next step is vital and yet we may be reluctant to take it simply because we know it can change or damage all that we have worked towards. It is a time for satisfaction, but this satisfaction comes with a need to do more.

Four of Cups

Contrarily, the stillness in the four cups represents stagnation, a status quo in a relationship that brings dissatisfaction and boredom. This is the "grass is greener" card. The relationship, once so fresh and exciting, is no longer moving or changing or growing, and the Querent, depressed and restless, begins to wonder if the grass might not be greener elsewhere.

This card is also about over-indulgence in drink, food, drugs, sex, even internet chat rooms, looking for stimulation. It is all too easy to turn to such things when depressed or bored. In general, this card is a warning.  Others could be influencing you, or in your own mind you could find fault with others rather than deal with your issues.

This card holds a serious warning, that it is you who must take action to create the changes necessary for a happy life and relationships. It is you who must learn how to be trustworthy and loyal to those around you. If you step into the realm of affairs, dishonesty,  change for the sake of change rather than dealing with your own problems, you will be dissatisfied with the results and find yourself here again. This is a card of cycles for some where satisfaction is never found as one expects others to provide it.

Four of Swords

This is the "meditation" card. The card advises the Querent that they need to get away, rest, recuperate. Especially after the Three of Swords!

The card indicates that the Querent has been facing mental or emotional stress, arguments, misunderstandings or verbal abuse, or that they're ill or injured. A healing retreat is needed, time to clear the head, heart and soul, or just fix a damaged body. In this case, the stillness of the "4" is healing and positive. A quiet, unchanging scene is needed a time of introspection.

By going inside the Querent can discover themselves, their true needs, and desires only by doing this can they find the best way to go forward.

Four of Pentacles

This is the miser card. Remember how the Querent got more work, money, luck, health in the last card, the Three of Pentacles? Well, he's holding on tight to what he's got, not sharing it with anyone, not investing it in the future, just holding onto it, trying to keep it still and unchanging.  This card can appear even when the Querent has nothing to lose, sometimes it is in the illusion that we refuse to acknowledge the truth of a situation, where everything around becomes threatening. This is the card of the obsessive, controlling and usually manipulative energies that surround those who are insecure in life.

The card reminds them to throw their bread upon the waters. Share the wealth; be generous with good luck and good fortune. A miser lives always in fear, never able to take delight in what they have, or create from it those things worth having like friends, family, lovers.  The message of this card, is that insecurity in itself can become dominant ensuring you never go forward and are never truly happy. You may find security in the holding to what you have gained, but remember it is insecurity that disables your ability to enjoy it therefore it is a false security that will crumble at the first moment you have a desire for something better.

This is a situation always of self, you cannot blame or fear others, competition is part of life itself, falling into the realm of insecurity can be a wholly destructive force that needs to be addressed before it can destroy a business, marriage, or indeed a life.  The dissatisfaction in this card is the underlying need or desire fore something more than what you have, whether it is happiness or material things.

FIVES

When trying to read the Fives, think of the Hierophant. The Hierophant represents someone who advises people when they're in trouble including your own higher level wisdom. Likewise, the Fives are unique cards in that each one seems to pose both a problem and an answer. After four fairly smooth cards of growth and development, the fives represent the fly in the ointment. Instability; the changes life brings forward challenges us to meet ourselves and our creations, to be real.

Of the question asked of the Hierophant by a troubled supplicant, the problem is real world. The answer, however, appropriate to the Hierophant, is usually spiritual or at least pragmatic. Understand that all Fives temper the Querent - you go through the fire, the low points, the hard times, in order to learn how to create your life effectively.

Five of Wands

This is a card predicting conflict and power struggles, smooth sailing meeting choppy waters. Inner doubts and fears will arise, leading to confusion and panic. This is the card that requires you to maintain your original vision, remember what you were trying to achieve.  If you fear competition and run from it, you will never succeed at anything.

The five of wands shows that out of the initial pleasure gained from creating what you desire, there follows a time of material reality where you are challenged to act, and  be committed to your own creations. If you want love you must battle with hurt, if you want business success you must battle with time, if you want anything there is usually something required of you to prove yourself.

Five of Cups

This is the card of betrayal one of the easiest to read. The Querent is obsessing over what is lost, rather than being glad for what they still have. The Querent might be feeling disappointed in someone for not living up to their expectations, making them blind to the person's good qualities. Or the Querent themselves did something they now regret, and they just can't get past it.

The problem, "How do I get past this?" The answer, "Your own blindness is what keeps you from getting past it. Open your eyes, look around, stop staring at what is wrong and bad and see what is right and good!" A simple but important answer!

When we feel betrayed in life it is very important to determine whether it was our own expectation that lead to disappointment, were we in fact betrayed by our own need for perfection, did we allow for the natural humanness of ourselves and others?

Five of Swords

In arguments and battles of ideas there are going to be times when one just loses or has to surrender. The five is present when one needs to face ones own capabilities, acknowledging limitations based on these. It can be painful being made aware of your own limitations, whether financial, career , love or health, this card indicates that one may have taken on more than they can handle.

This can be a refusal to accept the truth in a situation, if you do not have the money, you can not afford it. That is reality. Binding yourself into situations that require more than you have emotionally, physically etc, saying yes when you have no time. This is the card of honouring yourself, by understanding and making choices based upon the reality of your situation in any moment. This can be a hard learned lesson, and if you do not heed this card as a warning, a lesson it will surely be as loss of face, money or love will follow

Five of Pentacles

This is a card that predicts loss, financial loss, bad luck, a set-back in health. It is a difficult time, as all fives are. Losses can be on any level, emotional and material, this card can represent a fear, but be warned fear of loss can create the very thing you are trying to avoid.

This five often represents real material loss, that is money, possessions, or love if you feel bereft. These losses are not real losses as such, you still have your life, your self and your dreams, in most cases where an individual says they lost everything there is no truth to the statement. A loss of possessions is not true loss, as you simply continue to live albeit in a different way for those who face bankruptcy, it is often with a sense of relief that the final act is taken, as it brings to an end the worry and self doubt that comes with all difficult situations. All losses represent a time of adjustment, this is inevitable, for loss to come about there needs to be a situation that was simply not working. This card can be a call to action stating that the fear of loss holds you in your current situation no matter how dissatisfying it is. It is also a card of hitting the bottom, know that whatever your situation things can only get better from here.

SIXES

Sixes are balance and harmony, especially after the upsets of the fives. These cards predict a solution, and not just any solution; there will be an exchange, a give and take that results in a new equilibrium. With this card, there is an almost "Ah-HA!" of recognition, of understanding in the solution, and more than a little awe at the symmetry achieved by it.

These cards represent a return to the path, a rebalancing after challenges have been met, one recognizes the cause and effect aspects of life. Here is harmony. Here is the solution.

Six of Wands

The Victory Card: The Querent has found (or will find) that solution. Success, in fact, requires that they be above all others, that they make themselves a champion of the people. Note the give-and-take common to all 6's.  this is the card of recognition for effort, others notice how well you have done, where  you may have felt insignificant you are shown without doubt that you have been seen and you are appreciated.

this is a real card, you get pats on the back, if you have felt ignored this will come to an end, you can feel justified as this is all the result of very real work put in to achieve and goal.

Six of Cups

There is a great deal of rich and complex symbolism in this card, but in a nutshell, it is a frozen moment of perfect balance. The meaning of this card refers to a moment of nostalgia, of something or someone from our past coming back into our life. memories restore to us past love, past balance. We rediscover lost equilibrium and a solution that we could never have found in the present.

This is a card of looking to the past, remembering, and perhaps seeing clearly through the eyes of time the reality of past situations to allow healing. Sometimes reminiscing is accompanied by regret as we acknowledge our own roles in the events that have gone before. A card of healing and going forward with wisdom, as only by understanding our past actions can we move forward in a constructive way.

There is a warning though we cannot linger in the past, or our current lives may become stagnant, if you are feeling a longing for something in your past it may be time to take action to re create that which you have lost or let go.

Six of Swords

This cards meaning is that one is leaving difficulties behind. A trip or change of scene may be the answer to restoring balance here. But there is more to it than this. In relation to the mind, ideas and words of the sword suit, this is also about finding solutions. THERE is the answer, a way to make your idea work smoothly, perfectly, beautifully. Could also indicate a trip by sea.

This six takes you into calmer waters after a time of struggle and challenge, having worked hard to get here it is often a welcome relief.

Six of Pentacles

This card really reflects the idea of all the 6's--how give and take creates balance and harmony. Thus, the prediction of this card is that money, work or health woes can be solved by way of a gift or generosity, either material or of spirit. Balance achieved, problem solved on both sides.

It can also represent the need of another’s generosity, as a pentacle it can indicate a loan, asking for forgiveness of another, or the space and time required to nurture your self, thus being generous to yourself.

SEVENS

As the fives indicated a particular problem, so do the sevens. The fives were about loss, losing momentum, losing love, losing an argument, losing money. The question there was, "How do I deal with this loss?" The sevens are about finding yourself in a situation where you are not in control. Sevens relate to the Chariot, a card about finding and maintaining complete control and mastery over wild or opposing forces.

If the charioteer lets his horses run where they will, as they will, the chariot will crash. He not only has to have them completely in hand, but to win in a race or war, he must also control direction and speed. So, too, in life. You need to know not only how to take control but also how to direct the forces once you have them in hand. Sevens, like fives, are about overcoming fears and finding a way to succeed in a tough situation. They answer the question, "How do I take control?"

Seven of Wands

This is the "under siege" card. The stakes are high, and suddenly, the Querent is under attack; often when they're tired or vulnerable. This is when others look at what you've done and get jealous or greedy. The Querent is being criticized, maybe someone is trying to take over his project. He's on the defensive. How can he take back control? The card urges the Querent to stand his ground. Don't give up, don't surrender. If you do, your family, your children, your co workers or partners will take control and show you no mercy. Fear not, success is near to hand.

Often this seven indicates inner conflict and a struggle with others ideas, it is a wand and like all wands there is a call to action to alter the circumstances and restore peace, where you do not take action the inner conflict will continue flowing as damaging thoughts and feelings back and forth preventing sleep and relaxation. Sometimes we simply need to stand up and be counted no matter how difficult that may be.

Seven of Cups

This is the "can't make up my mind" card. This is the Seven of Cups. Suddenly, you, the chooser, are not in control. You are in the power of the choices. And there is one other problem: not all of the choices may be as good as they look. This is the card of making real that which one hopes for while there are many possibilities and many potential outcomes, none have value until you have chosen. None are real until you make them so.

This can be the card of pie in the sky where ones dreams, wishes and desires are not followed up by actions that ground them. Daydreaming and fantasizing do not improve your life, they are not real, so this card calls for you to martial your emotions and make an informed choice if you wish to gain the results.

Seven of Swords

This is the "Thief" card. It implies that someone is stealing something from you, your honor, your ideas, and your time. They may be spreading gossip about you, on a lighter note it is the white lie, or guile and manipulation, half truths and self serving motivations. integrity is the key challenge in this card.

This card warns you to be careful in dealings with others, sometimes we cannot be truthful without damaging another or in the need to get the promotion we may compromise our own integrity. In the area of love it suggests using feminine wiles or intimate knowledge to gain from another that which they may be unwilling to give. This is the taker in action, what they want outweighs what is best for you or you yourself may not be living your values.

Remember things gained at the expense of another carry their own price and it is a price you will have to pay at some point in the future. Where you are the one being manipulated understand that what goes around comes around.

Seven of Pentacles

Sometimes there is no way to take control of a situation. Once energy has been set in motion it takes on a life of its own, we can only be patient and see whether the outcome is successful or not. So, too, with waiting for a job offer or raise, waiting for work to pay off, or a new diet. Sometimes you have to realize that you've done all you can do. It is out of your hands now. All you can do is wait and see what the outcome will be.

Ultimately, the sevens share that message, the farmer's message: hold out, be patient, don't rush, go around. Be in control of yourself and you can be in control of this situation.

EIGHTS

We’ll relate the Eights to Strength. Eights are about moving, taking action, as Strength is a card of courage and transformation. It's very easy to let things stay as they are inside yourself or without (though, as the Eights warn, it's easy but damaging). It is much harder to gather up the willpower and mental strength to make a real change. A scary change. Like the Strength card, it is scary to approach that lion, but you can alter the relationship you have with it.

Eight of Wands

The power and energy of eight combined with the energy of wands makes this a card of movement and expansion. A lot of things are going to be happening fast, and the Querent is going to revel in and handle all of them. This will likely include many aspects of ones life. Fast. No need to slow down or be impatient, with this card, you can really move, change, do. This is really a card of movement often after a period of waiting or stagnation. When this card appears things are about to move in a big way.

Eight of Cups

The movement or progress in this card is the shedding of old relationships, old loves, familiar things, limiting beliefs, pain and old behaviour patterns. But good idea or not, they'll need courage to do this; to leave all everything known, comfortable and familiar, and go for the unknown. This can be a card of separation or divorce though it can just as easily be the release of outmoded beliefs with regard to relationship so as to transform what you have. It is ultimately a card of letting go of that which no longer serves you while you are seeking something better. It can mean letting go of a job, an idea, a goal that is no longer valid, an attitude, or in fact anything that has become a limitation.

You are not letting go to enable a loss, you are letting go to enable a release, with this release you are free to choose again, create anew, or re create that which was previously damaged or unusable.

Eight of Swords

This is the "damned if you do, damned if you don't," card. The Querent is in a situation where they're afraid to move. If they move, they'll get cut. However, the ropes that bind them, the blindfold over their eyes, are their own fears, keeping them still, immobile. And so the longer they stay, the more they constrain and entrap themselves. Ever been in a situation where you're afraid to say anything, so afraid that you second guess yourself, end up saying nothing, tying yourself in knots? But speaking up is going to get you cut to ribbons?

That's this card. The Querent must have the strength to endure the cuts, else they'll stay trapped. They must move, for the longer they let the situation continue, the worse it will get.  It is time for the individual to acknowledge that their own lack of honesty and integrity has lead them to this place, maybe playing off one person against another, it is time to come clean so one can move on and be creative. Staying in this energy indicates an unwillingness to be responsible for ones own actions, often blame accompanies the eight of swords but we all know that we are the masters of our own selves and therefore ultimately responsible for all our actions and lack of action. The Querent needs to know that the ONLY way through is to take decisive action or the situation will continue to worsen.

Eight of Pentacles

It is a card of starting over, doing something new or perhaps just expanding. Similarly, this card predicts a time of learning and mistakes, doubts and just plain hard work. The message of all Eights is that movement, a change of place, home, job or situation can lead to an internal transformation. All that is needed is the strength to go through with it. Often it is accompanied by resentment as one has already put a lot of effort into life, career, or love, but more is required and one may need to learn new skills to go forward with success, a lack of doing so will surely lead the individual into a repetitive cycle.

NINES

Nine is a card of nearly there. Like the Hermit, who connects to the nines, it is a card where something is finished and the person in turn steps back to look on what he's done, earned, or gained. Nines are among the most powerful cards, usually granting the Querent what it is they, like the Hermit, are seeking the nine is a powerful number and often these situations feel fated, but we need to understand that they are the coming together of many life factors, actions and those of others.

Nine of Wands

This is the card of a final challenge, this will always be an internal quest to finish what one has started, often the seeker gives up at the very point where they should drive forward again. What the Querent seeks most, whatever that may be, is right there. They've only to shine the Hermit's light upward to see it. They might feel tired, wary and on guard but completion of all they've worked for is right there, all they need do is go for it!

Nine of Cups

This is perhaps THE best card in the Minor Arcana. It is sometimes called the "wish" card. Your wish will come true your prayer will be answered. On the more emotional level, relationships are loving and mutually satisfying. Creativity is high, friendships and emotions are good. To gain advantage from this card you would need to know two things, what DID you wish for, an ending or a beginning.

A wish coming true is about outcomes, we have all heard the saying be careful what you wish for as you will surely get it. There is a requirement when we make a wish, not a lesson. If you wish for a great love you need to be capable of that yourself and life will give you those opportunities you need to create one. If you wish for great wealth you may find yourself working many hours and achieving just that at the expense of something else, but either way your wish will come true.

Nine of Swords

We all know this card, it is the one where we wake up at night and go over our troubles, problems, worries, thoughts, what we said, what others said. This is a card that indicates ones inner demons, fears and concerns. It is anxiety that is unfounded in reality. One fears the worst and so may actually create what they fear. It is an inner fear often based on past losses, hurts etc. the current situation can only be dealt with in reality and the now.

By facing your own fears you release yourself from the bonds of anxiety and can move into a future of hope and optimism. This nine can be paralyzing but be aware that you are only ever immobilized by a lack of action where action is required, not by the outcome of an action that is considered and appropriate.

Nine of Pentacles

This is a card that indicates feeling pleased with ones efforts, it is an introspective card as in the person who happily looks at the flourishing garden they themselves planted or that sense of satisfaction at the end of a good day at work. This is always a temporary feeling as with the garden seasons change, and with a work day ending another begins. It is a justifiable sense of achievement that does not need validation of others; one simply feels good about themselves for a while for a job well done.

TENS

As the aces were the pure, elemental spark of the suit, the tens are the element of the suit complete. Not as in the nines, which are physical completion, but in a transcendent fashion. It is the ultimate good or bad of that element. Completion has its own challenges and we are not always satisfied with the results of our actions, goals or dreams.

Ten of Wands

The Querent has complete control of all the many things he wanted control over. He is the leader, the boss. This is the card of being over burdened and this leads to worry, it is important though to acknowledge as with all the tens, the individual got exactly what they desired; in this case it is control. Unfortunately those who wish to control also find themselves alone with the problems created in the process. Where a particular area was queried it would apply only to that area.

Ten of Cups

This is a permanence of joy, love, friendship. This is a card of acknowledged love and contentment. Like all places in life this cycles and moves so one cannot stay in this state forever, but nevertheless it is a wonderful time of fulfillment and achievement in the area of love and emotion. One can only feel happy when this card is present there is a danger of stagnating here, so sit in this energy only for a while then move on to create again.

Ten of Swords

This is the card of final endings, the situation (good or bad) is finally over, all avenues have been explored and there is no more to be done. Often it accompanies a time of exhaustion for the Querent who may have been struggling to keep thinks going. It is important to acknowledge the positive aspect here, where there is a struggle it may mean the end of the struggle, where you are single it could mean a final end to that situation. So remember that this card is a final ending of a current situation with regard to your question. It can be the final ending of a relationship if you are asking about that, if you are single and struggling however, it could be a final ending to that situation. Make no mistake this is a card of a final and complete end to something.

Ten of Pentacles

This is the pinnacle of prosperity, material goods that last instead of being temporary; this is a family home bought and paid for, a business you have successfully created the family who are secure on many if not all levels. The ten therefore is the card of abundance, if you had a particular area in your query it pertains to that area.

PAGES

The first court cards are the Pages/Princesses. The element of the pages is "Earth" indicating something young, growing, initiating a project of some sort, can also be related to immaturity or a child. So the Page of Wands would be "Earth of Fire" - the seed of fire, so to speak. So, an adult who is youthful enough might also be a page.. The purpose of a page, after all, is to deliver messages. Messages can come in many forms, as signs that come to us in moments of revelation, texts, emails etc. unconscious statements by others that reveal a truth to you. They can come from spirit, psychics and dreams.

Page of Wands

This page loves being the center of attention and the leader; however, and you might have to watch that he/she doesn't bully other kids. Can be a message of action and movement and indication of things getting under way or possibility of travel. This is a go forward energy without necessarily thinking of results so can be difficult or require disentangling at a later date.

Page of Cups

This is the unformed energy of the emotions, often misplaced or poorly related, a message of love or emotion this can be a poem or love letter. Can be an emotionally immature person, who swings back and forth in the area of love. A message of love, romance, heart-break or family.

Page of Swords

This is the energy of gossip, spying and general trouble making. This can be used in a positive way telling others of good qualities etc. but mostly it is utilized in the negative, whether intended or not the indiscriminate relating of personal information can be damaging to another. A message relating to a problem either solved or ending badly, or a message that gives one an idea or solution. Sometimes rumour or gossip - in which case, check it out carefully, it might be false.

Page of Pentacles

This is the feminine principal of the nurture element, very earthy information is apparent as to what is required or that things are in their initial phases. Sowing the seeds of reality, the next step beyond an idea. At any age this can represent the practical person full of energy in the beginning stages of development or initiating a project. Messages pertaining to money or general good news.

KNIGHTS

Knights or princes are the spirit of youth and vitality, all about changes. Knights are never still; as the pages/princesses suggest messages, the knights/princes suggest movement, travel. If a prince arrives change in some way is inevitable

Elementally, they are Air moving and flowing like that element. As a person, they're likely to stand for a young adult or someone who acts in a youthful manner. Their beliefs are purer than of an adult, less cynical and fiercer. In this they are most knight like: powerfully, almost unquestioning loyal to a kingdom or cause driving forward with little thought for consequence.

As travel:

Knight of Wands

Knight. Charismatic, the kind who never slows down, who always goes for grand gestures. He's popular, the center of attention, the leader who comes up with crazy ideas. On the negative side, he can be headstrong, bossy or a bully. he's not always sensitive to others feelings. Don't expect him to be reliable or on time. loyal to his friends, and his religion whether that is sports, a good time or church.

As a situation

This knight represents hasty actions, grand ideas, changeable situations or feelings in the moment. Needing to use the qualities of risk taking, a driving energy that slays the dragon of material reality by sheer will and force.

Knight of Cups

A knight in the truest sense, this is the knight of love, the Romeo, and love; dreamy, sensitive, moody, "deep." He will fall in love, passionately, profoundly and he and his love will be inseparable (for now). On the negative side, he should be watched for depression which can be very real. Though moody, he's fiercely loyal to anyone he loves.

As a situation

Falling in love, being wooed. Exaggeration. Living in the moment but with a view on outcomes although not necessarily clear. Emotions running high, moodiness ups and downs. Depression may be  present depending on the cards around it. A need to develop a more steady or balanced approach

Knight of Swords

Too smart for his own good, this young man is also too talkative. He's engages in flame wars on a dozen internet chat sites, he questions his teachers, he likes to play devil's advocate and argues with his friends and family just for the sake of arguing. This sharp mind and sharp tongue can, in the negative, lead him to spread gossip or nasty rumors just to see what will happen. If there's anything this knight will fight and die for, it is for freedom of information and speech. There is a disregard for consequences with this knight which can lead to damage and destruction.

As a situation

Lightning speed situations, when this card appears things just happen very quickly and you may need to be very switched on to make good choices at this time. Be aware of those around you who may talk about you. Sudden change

Knight of Pentacles

Humble and honest this knight comes forward with a genuine offering. He's got projects going, jobs on the side, he fears not having what others have, not fitting in. He likes being at home. He needs to have his own room or secret place, and woe to anyone who goes into that room or changes it in any way; he has his own system for everything. On the negative side, this teen can be far too solitary, too concerned with perfection, what he does or does not have, or earning a place of respect. Fear of failure or competition or standing out may keep him from leaving his room. He values and protects beautiful things and is a loyal employee if treated right.

As all the knights are not yet mature, these qualities are temporary states in an ongoing development of the humble, and honest male energy. Not necessarily a person of great imagination this person is dependable and can be trusted.

As a situation

Honest intentions can be a bit bored, a person/man offering genuine love. Needing to pay attention to details or the mundane, dealing with day to day issues, developing the qualities of dependability

QUEENS

The element of Queens is water and, not surprisingly, they are a reflection of the Empress. In this they signify the creative force. One way to think of the court cards is this: The Kings are the motivating force or the immovable tyrant (Fire). The queens are the ones who make it real or the emotion of the situation (Water). The Knights are change and challenge (wind). And the Pages (earth) are the initial grounding or seed that must come before growth can be achieved.

As always, Court Cards are likely to be actual people. The queens are adult women or mature feminine qualities, in charge or indicating a need to take charge, the kings and queens are at the pinnacle of their power.

Queen of Wands

They light up a room when they enter; they radiate warmth and energy, humor and spirit. They are often the entertainers at social gatherings. They can also be leaders and activists. Men and often other women hover round them like moths to a flame, and can certainly be burned by their hot, passionate, restless natures. Not that these women can't be gentle; they love children and are almost over-active participants in the lives of their kids, making costumes for plays, coaching teams, etc. These are very creative women, with boundless energy to make, do, travel, and entertain. The problem, of course, is that these Queens have trouble stepping out of the spotlight. They can overwhelm or intimidate, be bossy and overbearing. At their best, however, they are an inspiration to their family and friends, and often to admiring strangers as well.

As a situation

There may be a need to be warm and generous. Equally there may be a need to step back and allow others space to create also. One may be lazy in a situation and need to get up and motivate to move forward. Developing a trip or making real a career, especially one in acting or leadership.

Queen of Cups

Often a healer, counselor or psychic, this is a woman who seems to know what's wrong even before you open your mouth. Call her the emotional fix-it woman, but she seems to have exactly the right solution to problems relating to home, friends, love. Sometimes she is shy, self-effacing, you might not even notice her; other times she can be a little scary, dreamy, mysterious, a creative storyteller. Her intuition is uncanny, her temper...well, it runs very deep and you don't ever want it turned against you. Talk about scary. Unfortunately, this is also a queen who can suffer from female hormonal problems, depression, moodiness, alcoholism, drug addiction, psychological problems.

To be wonderful partners these queens need to learn to be honest in their communications and allow that others will be who they are, making judgments based on disappointments can be destructive, seeing the magnificence of others in their current form would bring the absolute best out of these queens.

As a situation

Depression and negativity may be an issue, needing to use intuition, needing to be more open to resolve a current situation. Seeking advice from one who has inner knowledge or skills Developing a romance, psychic powers, or the growth of a family.

Queen of Swords

She's a walking encyclopedia. Any information you want, this woman has it, and as such she can mingle with almost anyone. She knows obscure facts, strange tid-bits, and she seems to love nothing better than to pour it all out, give it away like gifts to help people .She absorbs information, and is able to relate it back succinctly, clearly, simply, so everyone can understand and use it; , she can be aloof, even cold. They believe the right facts can fix any problem, and may offer that instead of sympathy or warmth. They mean well, but their need to know and solve problems can often outweigh other considerations. There can be a cutting quality to how she relates to others, not because she is hard hearted, but because she is clinical in her approach, she can be the most amazing person when she allows for emotions and understands that these have as significant a role as the intellect.

As a situation

Needing to allow for the emotional aspects of an issue or for another, and listening to ones emotions in relationships. Being tactful in relating others. Developing through learning, or just spreading news.

Queen of Pentacles

This is the practical, down-to-earth woman. An enthusiastic outdoors woman or at least attracted to out door activities, gardening etc, she's always encouraging friends and family to be healthy. She loves beautiful things and has an artist's eye. Tasteful is the perfect word for her; likewise in her dress, jewelry and make-up. She wants them to have the best so they can succeed but also believes they need to learn and do this for themselves. She can be driven and like the king counts loyalty very highly finding it hard to forgive betrayal by loved ones and friends alike.

She creates harmony wherever she goes and loves nothing more than for those around her to be happy, she is likely to expect everyone to do there share and does not have patience or time for those who do not. Such a strong energy can dominate domestic situations, passionate by nature the queen can be the most loving partner and parent if she can learn to allow children and partners the space to be themselves.

As a situation

Making real a business, altering a work situation, or needing to use practical and down to earth qualities to deal with the current situation.

KINGS

They are the fire - their element - the passion, the driving force. This is why Crowley has them as Knights instead, riding on horseback (rather than sitting passively on a throne), filled with energy, moving, leading. Kings are related to the Emperor, and like him they are planners, motivators, commanders, and creators; the one who rallies everyone together to form the kingdom. (Think Henry V.) The Queen is the one who will make it real, and the Knight/Prince will take it beyond the castle walls. But without the King, it won't happen at all.

Thus, Kings in a spread can indicate motivation, a beginning or start of something. . The thing to remember with the Kings is that while they are powerful motivators, they are still "in the crown" - in the head. They can move mountains with their enthusiasm and energy and light a fire under almost anything. But they can't make it real all by themselves.

Like all court cards, the King cards are likely to be people. These might be men the Querent knows or the Querent himself if he's an adult male. It may signify the kind of man he is, or the kind of man he is at this time or in this circumstance.

The kings can also represent the male aspect or required energy of a situation.

King of Wands

Call him "The Preacher." His dream kingdom is a philosophy. He fills a room when he walks in, expansive, full of energy, charisma, fun. He loves danger, adventure, challenges. A great innovator, he is the person with the ideas and energy to take them forward. people either love him or hate him, and the same goes for his family. He falls in love quickly and knows where he is headed at each moment always ready to move with that restless energy of his.

He’s great with kids. No dad was ever so inventive or fun. But he fully expects his family to come with him, wherever he goes and support whatever he does. If they don't, his other side can come to the surface, one that is jealous, impatient this is the most likely king to offer ultimatums at every turn if he feels he cannot get his way. It is not surprising that sometimes his wife or children will rebel against him and when they do he will be incredibly hurt not understanding that the needs of others are important too. To be the ultimate partner he would develop the skills of turning that wonderful energy to ensuring the plans incorporate all those he loves, recognizing where this may not be so. In his optimum state, this partner would be exciting and loving, if you give to him he will give you your all. As a parent his children will learn to do for themselves when he lets them reveal what they love and shows them how to achieve it.

As a situation

Impelled by new ideas or selling an idea to others. Planning a trip, the idea for some grand new career, or being motivated to take charge. Depending where it is in the spread, it can indicate that the Querent has decided to take command, to overthrow the old with his new, bold ideas, or this is what is needed in the current situation

King of Cups

A kinder, gentler, more loving man you'll never meet though with a tendency to isolate himself from others who cannot live up to his fantasy of the perfect world. His "kingdom" is his family, and his one dream is to be sitting at the head of a huge table filled with kin, kids, grand kids, serving up food to them all. His family comes first; for them he'll work, sacrifice, do just about anything; and, he is capable of doing terrible things if his own perspective of perfection is threatened. Very like the Queen of Cups, however, he's too soft and sentimental. No matter how wrong the child, this father will always bail the kid out and blame others for qualities the child lacks. About his family, it is almost impossible to make him see reason though at the same time he can be very manipulative to get his own way, being direct and honest is something for the king of cups to develop. In this way the king of cups is a man of fantasies and ideals needing only to learn how to deal effectively with reality to be one of the nicest and most personable of men.

As a situation

Can indicate a need to be motivated to be a new and better provider, perhaps a need to be kind or gentle in the current situation

King of Swords

Call him "The Judge". His kingdom is the kingdom of high ideals. Loving, friendly, but distant, the one thing everyone says about this man is "He's Fair." he is a patient, careful man, with very high ideals.. He treats his wife and kids fairly, hearing them out, though making his own decision rather than being swayed by emotions, he is the thinker. When disappointed this king finds it difficult to get past it and may take up the habit of sniping at a partner rather than dealing with how he feels. Unlike the King of Cups, this King does not put "Family first, right or wrong." Ideals come first, and he can be unforgiving of the family member who is weak or more "human" than he. He will not budge when it comes to upholding his own ideals, not even for his nearest and dearest. He needs only to be non judgmental of those he loves to become one of the easiest of partners to live with and as a parent allowing for emotional changes during puberty can be the most inspirational when dealing with problems, there can be a tendency to alienate ones children through judging there behaviour, his sense of fairness would always let him find a way to restore balance in relationships.

As a situation

Tossing out a new idea, getting thoughts on paper, brain storming. The ability to see problems objectively and find new and better solutions

King of Pentacles

Proud and self-reliant, He is the provider expending a lot of energy creating the comfort and security for loved ones, family and himself, he do his best for them, stick by them, and expects them to be equally responsible, hardworking and disciplined. Much like his queen, he hates being embarrassed and has a hard time forgiving any one who causes him embarrassment, be they family, friends or enemies. It is not easy for the king to see I love you as adequate, as the most likely form of compliment will relate to ability not emotion, any compliment however will be heartfelt and earned. You can from the King expect "I'm proud of you." This, from him, is his highest compliment. He needs only to learn to bend a little and communicate with greater ease to be the most wonderful of parents his sense of loyalty and strong passions leads this man to potentially be one of the great life loves for a woman.

MAJOR ARCANA

As all the Major Arcana are the higher energies, the underlying truths within us, they have the power to explain life’s situations, they are why to the minor arcana’s what

The Fool  Basic Tarot Meaning

At #0, the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he needs to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasizing and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.

Thirteen's Observations

In the Tarot, cards like The Magician or The Hermit can often stand for the Querent or for someone in the Querent's life. The Fool, however, almost always stands for the Querent alone, no one else. In standing for the Querent, the Fool represents a time of newness, a time when life has been "re-started" as it were. The person feels that they are back at zero, whether that be in romantic affairs, or career, at their job or intellectual pursuits. Far from being sad or frustrating, the Querent feels remarkably *free*, light hearted and refreshed, as if being given a second chance. They feel young and energized.

In addition, they likely have no idea where they're going or what they're going to do. But that doesn't matter. For the Fool, the most important thing is to just go out and enjoy the world. To see what there is to see and delight in all of it.

Unfortunately, in this childlike state the person is likely to be overly optimistic or naive. A Fool can be a Fool. This is the card likely to turn up when a Querent is thinking of investing his money in a new, "sure fire" business. Or when the Querent is sure that it's "love this time!" Like the Fool, they're so busy daydreaming of what might be that they're ignoring what is. They're about to fall right off a cliff. It's time for them to listen to that watchful little dog, which might be a concerned friend, a wise tarot reader, or just their instincts.

As a card, the Fool ultimately stands for a new start. When it turns up the Querent might be about to make a move, not just to a new home, but new job, new life. There's more than just change, renewal, and a brand new beginning in the Fool, there's also movement, a fresh, exciting new time.

The Magician Basic Tarot Meaning

The magician represents those hidden  or surprising aspects either within ones self  or a situation at hand. this surprise can be good or bad, but nevertheless there is something to be revealed.

this is the card of pulling something out of the hat at the last minute to save the day, or discovering a talent or ability that previously was completely hidden. it can also represent that things are not always what they seem. be discerning, pay attention or dig deep to find the truth or what you need

observations

this is the card of magic, slight of hand, misdirection and looking below the surface. as a card of surprises it would be wise to be ready for the unexpected or to have your perception of a situation changed. where it applies to the querent it indicates a time where the individual needs to look within themselves to find what they need

The High Priestess Basic Tarot Meaning

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know in order to make a decision about a problem or a job, an investment, love, career, family, etc.

Observations

If there is a card that symbolizes hidden knowledge it is the High Priestess. This is the area of inner knowing which we often ignore in the face of perspective or contrary indications. Where the Magician is about revealing, the High Priestess is about keeping things hidden behind the curtain. Things you know, but don't tell or know without acknowledging even to yourself.

If the reader feels the High Priestess stands for the Querent, then this is a time of solitary investigation and the passing on of secret knowledge. Things kept secret will be revealed to them. Likewise, these secrets might come to them psychically by way of visions or powerful instincts. Insights may be found in, dreams, revelations from others who may be unaware of what they are revealing, or conversations with spirits.

As a card, the High Priestess is about knowledge. Often she appears when an individual has an inner knowing but has no idea how to apply the knowledge or needs a revelation to be able to go forward.

Empress Basic Tarot Meaning

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. This is the card that reflects the inner nurturer, home and hearth, marriage, birth and life. This is the moment before manifesting or where a consequence is about to become reality in ones life, just like the birth of a child there is a gestation period, where the outcome of a creation is not apparent but nevertheless upon us.

Observations

The Empress card is  nurturing an idea, vision or family. Male or female, it is a time of providing for oneself and others, family, and ideas are carefully tended in the hope of a great outcome, there is a definite mothering aspect and so those attributes are always apparent when she appears in a spread. As with any gestation period there is a requirement for patience, what you have asked for or are trying to create can take a little time to manifest fully.

The Empress can also be the lesser aspects of the nurturer, she can smother, not know when to let go, be possessive and jealous of those who would take away her "baby." So she can indicate an aspect of being controlling of loved ones, business, or the environment in which they exist. In this manner this can be one of the more destructive as
